FARGO — Members of a Fargo Public Schools choir are enjoying another accomplishment as the school year closes, but they want to ensure their teacher gets credit for making them better singers and better people.

The Davies High School Vivace choir was named by Gov. Kelly Armstrong as the Governor's Official State Choral Program for the 2025-26 school year. The St. Mary’s Central High School Wind Orchestra of Bismarck was chosen as the Governor’s Official State Band/Orchestra Program.

The Vivace choir features 24 students in grades 10 through 12 and is directed by Carly Grandner McDougall, who is in her fifth year at Davies.

The choir was invited to perform at music festivals at ×ö°®ÊÓƵ and Minnesota State University Moorhead this year and is also on tap for a choral festival at North Dakota State University next school year.

“If they get asked to sing somewhere, I say yes,” Grandner McDougall said, on a short break from her Davies classroom. “Their engagement level is insane. They are just so dedicated.”
